Interests
Research
Research interests primarily revolve around clinical trials in Alzheimer's Disease. I have served as the Principal Investigator on a number of clinical trials in Alzheimer's including trials of monoclonal antibodies targeting beta-amyloid, single molecule treatments of Alzheimer's and Dementia with Lewy Bodies, and participate in assessment of individuals engaged in a observational study under an NIH grant. I served as the PI on a trial that examined the use of amyloid PET imaging, sponsored jointly the the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the American College of Radiology.
Teaching
I have enjoyed my role in training geriatric psychiatry fellows through the University of Arizona Fellowship. Fellows rotated through our clinic weekly. I supervised their clinical work and provided some didactic lectures germane to geriatric psychiatry. I have also provided grand rounds presentations to the Department of Neurology at the University of Arizona. In addition, at BAI we have had the pleasure of having externs and post-docs in neuropsychiatry and I have been involved in teaching these professionals. I have provided many talks to the public, educating our Tucson residents about Alzheimer's disease and how individuals might prevent cognitive decline and dementia.
