Biography
Brent Gibbs teaches Acting and Stage Combat at the University of Arizona’s School of Theatre, Film and Television. For 18 years he served as the Artistic Director for the Arizona Repertory Theatre. He is a member of Actors' Equity Association and Screen Actors Guild. For nine years Brent served as the Director, fight director and production stage manager for one of the nation's largest Outdoor Dramas, Tecumseh!. He has gained recognition as an Advanced Actor/Combatant by the Society of British Fight Directors, Fight Directors Canada and The Society of American Fight Directors where he also holds the rank of Certified Teacher and Fight Director. He has taught combat Master classes around the United States and Europe at various schools including The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. For several summers he taught stage combat workshops at the International Theatreschool Festival held in Amsterdam.

See description: Experivent Research Group.More infoMy experimental production company, Experivent Research Group, produced an interactive geolocated sound walk consisting of three abridged scenes from Shakespeare's Macbeth. The sound walk was originally deployed at Lafayette Park in Washington, DC, and is currently deployed in Tucson, AZ, and Palm Springs, FL. I am the producer/ sound designer for the project. Other collaborators included UA colleagues Brent Gibbs (script editing, and direction), and Kevin Black (associate producer, creative consultant). Visual material was produced by Geneva Foster-Gluck (Co- Artistic Director, Experivent Research Group.) Also involved were three BFA actors playing the roles of the witches, and a BFA stage management student who served as project manager and communications director.

- Frankenstein; Theatre; October; Over my sabbatical I began working on an adaptation of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein for the stage. I have written the first act and am currently working with School of Theatre Arts alumnus and award winning playwright Nat Cassidy on polishing and tightening the script.
- Swordplay; October; Show performed for California Design Institute, Honors Convocation and Arts Oasis.
- The Tamer Tamed; Theatre; October; What was supposed to be a simple edit turned into a full fledged adaptation. Fletcher's script still exists at the heart of the production but the text has been radically reworked to the point that it seems best to list it under this section.

In this capacity I worked with a student who arranged a Russian piece for choir/soloists, contracted a Russian language coach and arranged for a conductor for the production.

- All We Are Saying...; Stylized Fight Choreography; March; Choreographed sequence of stage combat performed to music as part of a preshow entertainment at the International Theatreschool Festival in Amsterdam.
- SAFD Adjudication Performance; March; Directed and choreographed fight sequences for Society of American Fight Directors Adjudication. In addition, I create the sound design. Performance is open to the public.
- Urban Mayhem; Enviromental Theatre; March; I was asked to work with the DOX professional training company, located in Amsterdam. Over the course of a week we developed several performance peices that were produced as part of the International Theatreschool Festival.
- Grappling with Dim Truths; June; I was asked again to choreograph a series of combat scenes as part of the street theatre offerings by the International Theatreschool Festival in Amsterdam. Performances took place outside the Blecher Theatre and in several location around the city.
- The Flying Fists of Free Speech; June; I was asked to choreograph a series of combat scenes as part of the street theatre offerings by the International Theatreschool Festival in Amsterdam. Performances took place outside the Blecher Theatre and in several location around the city.
