Scholarly Contributions
Journals/Publications
- Mondy, D. (2015). And We'll See You Tomorrow Night. The Cincinnati Review, 72-97.More infoThis 26-page work of Creative Nonfiction will be a chapter in my forthcoming book of literary sports writing. My hope is that it can be a unique combination of traditional reportage and personal narrative -- which can be seen in the attached PDF of the published piece.
- Mondy, D. (2015). How Things Break. Slate.com.More infoMy award-winning essay about the famous photo of Muhammad Ali and Sonny Liston's famous fight (selected for the Iowa Review Awards in 2014 by David Shields) was republished in Slate, and the piece became the second most-read piece on their site for several days -- shared on Facebook over 6000 times and over 600 times on Twitter. Though I previously would've pretended that I didn't care about "shares" on social media, I found this process incredibly heartening. Prior to publication, Slate's editors let me know that longform pieces didn't generally generate excessive clicks -- so I was very encouraged by the response prompted by this piece.
