The awareness that spirituality is an essential component of all human life is not new. Present already with medieval mystics and early modern, what we believe is an integrative part of the body-brain connection. However, the power of belief is as it were being re-discovered in the age of neuroscience and cognitive psychology. Tracing the birth of psychology and its changing relation to religion and spirituality, this final chapter in the edited volume Mental Health, Spirituality, and Religion in the Middle Ages and Early Modern Age provides a postmodern perspective of where we are now in the twenty-first century regarding religion, spirituality, and mental health.

    More info
Clydesdale and Garces-Foley offer a wealth of granular data on Americantwentysomethings’ religious and secular lives. The Twentysomething Soul is written for ministers and leaders in the church on religious-affiliated young adults, yet the most significant insights stem from those outside the church, those who do not affiliate with religious institutions and beliefs. What will happen to the Nones in the future will impact our understanding of all religious life in America and for scholars beyond the confines of any one belief system.
