Biography
I ventured to Tucson from the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois to pursue my undergraduate degree in Family Studies and Human Development. Initially, I entered the University of Arizona as an Undecided student and soon discovered my major and journey by getting involved on campus and collaborating with advisors. After earning a BS degree from the University of Arizona, I earned an M.Ed. in Human Relations from Northern Arizona University.
As a first-generation, out-of-state student, my student experience at UArizona cultivated my passion to help guide students who are transitioning and navigating the university. As an undergraduate student, I explored my passion for teaching. I didn't realize I had a passion for teaching until I stepped outside of my comfort zone! I have had a wonderful experience working within various educational settings. Since 2021, I have taught many courses at UArizona, such as first-semester success courses, major exploration courses, and UNIV 101. I love teaching because I can build relationships with my students, learn from my students, and help prepare my students for continued success. I am passionate about promoting a sense of belonging and connectedness to students on campus to empower students to overcome any barriers and challenges they may face.
As an Assistant Professor of Practice in the W.A. Franke Honors College and UNIV Core Faculty for the Office of General Education, I am grateful that I can teach UNIV 101 and 301 to UArizona students to guide them throughout meaning-making and reflection on their journey and experiences to promote lifelong learning and overall growth.
In my free time, I enjoy playing with my puppy Bailey, exploring Tucson, cooking new recipes, binge-watching TV shows, listening to music, and staying active!
