Biography

L. Marie Wallace is an applied anthropologist and social worker whose research interests include global mental health, social service delivery, aging, the intersections of technology and aging, technology, social change and work, and the use of technology in adjunctive/complementary support for trauma-related issues. In addition to her human services focused work, Wallace also has an interest in researching and implementing successful pedagogical techniques for undergraduate students.

Her most recent work focuses on aging clients, ecotherapy, and a sense of place and was presented at the 2024 National Association of Social Work's Rural Social Work Caucus at Fort Hays University. She has been actively involved in the International Union of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences for over twenty years and has presented at IUAES Congresses in Capetown, South Africa; Kunming, China; Chiba, Japan; and Florianopolis, Brazil. She also recently presented at the European Association of Social Anthropologists (2022) at Queen's University, Belfast, Northern Ireland with a group of international scholars concerning knowledge and knowledge control. She has advanced degrees in anthropology, social work, and educational technology.
