Biography
Meily J. Mendez, DMA, NCTM has been a student, a faculty member, and now academic advisor at the University of Arizona School of Music. She received her Doctorate in Musical Arts in Piano Performance studying performance with Steinway artist and Professor of Piano, Dr. John Milbauer, and piano pedagogy with Professor of Piano Pedagogy and Group Piano, Dr. Lisa Zdechlik. Dr. Mendez has taught and coordinated the Class Piano sequences Mus101, 110, 210, and 310 as faculty, as well as taught individual lessons at the university level. She is now the Academic Advisor for the School of Music, teaches a small but thriving private teaching studio of students of all ages and abilities, and maintains her membership to the Tucson Music Teacher’s Association, the Arizona State Music Teacher’s Association, and the Music Teachers’ National Association. Dr. Mendez is an MTNA Nationally Certified Teacher of Music. She has served as an adjudicator for music competitions and she continues her research and performances of solo and collaborative works.
