Biography
Melissa L. Rosado de Christenson, MD, FACR, FAAWR is a thoracic radiologist. She is a graduate of the charter class of the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences where she was commissioned as Captain, USAF, Medical Corps. She completed her Diagnostic Radiology residency at The George Washington University Medical Center. Her first duty station was at the 13th Air Force Medical Center in the Republic of the Philippines. She was then selected to serve as a radiologist in the Department of Radiologic Pathology at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP), in Washington, DC. She served in this department for over 13 years culminating in her appointment as Chairman and Registrar and until her retirement from active duty as a Colonel in the United States Air Force in 2001. Throughout her career she trained over 20,000 radiologists, residents, and other physicians. She has held academic appointments at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, the Ohio State University, the University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Medicine, and is currently Professor of Medical Imaging at the University of Arizona, College of Medicine - Tucson. Dr. Rosado de Christenson has published on the subject of radiologic-pathologic correlation of thoracic diseases. She has been a featured speaker in national and international radiology meetings and a visiting professor at universities throughout the United States and abroad. She is a Fellow of the American College of Radiology and the American Association for Women Radiologists. She is Past President of the American Association for Women Radiologists, the Society of Thoracic Radiology, and the American Roentgen Ray Society and is a recipient of Gold Medals from the Society of Thoracic Radiology and the American Roentgen Ray Society.
