Biography

Martina Shenal is a Professor of Studio Art in the Photography, Video and Imaging area at the University of Arizona. In addition, her administrative roles have included service in the School of Art as Assistant Director (2005-12), Interim Director (14-15) and as the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs in the College of Fine Arts (2015-20).

Prior to relocating to Tucson, she was an Assistant Professor of Art at the Memphis College of Art (1998-2004). She earned her MFA from Arizona State University and her BFA from Ohio State University. Selected grants and fellowships include a WESTAF/National Endowment for the Arts Regional Fellowship in New Genres; Visual Art Fellowship from the Tennessee Arts Commission; two Professional Development Grants from the Arizona Commission on the Arts; UA Confluencenter  Faculty Collaboration Grant; School of Art Faculty Professional Development Grant. Solo exhibitions of her work have been held at Place M Gallery, Tokyo JP, Whittier College, Whittier, CA, Workspace Gallery, Lincoln, NE, and University of Tennessee-Chattanooga.
