This panel will delve into the dynamic intersection of librarianship, academia, and cultural relevance, focusing on how distinctive collections can be integrated into educational settings by creating stronger, sustained relationships with faculty. This panel, featuring librarians from a Historically Black College or University (HBCU), a large Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI), and a public university, aims to explore innovative strategies for collaboration between librarians, archivists, and faculty members. Each panelist will share insights and experiences from their respective institutions, highlighting successful methodologies and tools that have been employed to familiarize faculty with rare and unique collections and prepare them to introduce primary source literacy to their students. We will emphasize the importance of understanding the specific needs and interests of faculty members to tailor resources and support effectively, including primary source literacy workshops for faculty, outreach through planned events, and library-wide programs that highlight collections and services. Building on this foundation, the panel will explore the crucial role of relationship-building between librarians/archivists and faculty. We will discuss strategies for fostering strong, collaborative partnerships that go beyond transactional interactions. Panelists will share case studies and examples of co-created instructional and training sessions that have resulted in enriched learning experiences for students. By highlighting these partnerships, the panel aims to inspire attendees to cultivate similar relationships within their own institutionsThroughout the discussion, the panel will emphasize the importance of adaptability and creativity in leveraging distinctive collections to enhance educational outcomes. Attendees will gain valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities associated with integrating distinctive collections into the curriculum, as well as practical strategies for overcoming potential obstacles.By bringing together diverse perspectives from different types of institutions, this panel aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the multifaceted role that librarians and archivists play in supporting faculty and enriching the educational experience and supporting/promoting student success. Attendees will leave with actionable ideas and inspiration to implement in their own institutions, ultimately fostering a more inclusive and culturally relevant academic environment.
