    The Divine Comedy has been the source of inspiration for many film adaptations. This essay investigates the influence of Dante's comic style on Italian comedian Totò and his Totò al giro d’Italia (Mario Mattoli, 1948) and Totò all’Inferno (Camillo Mastrocinque, 1955).
