Biography
Rodrigo Silva was born and raised in Mexico City. He has a degree in veterinary medicine and a master’s degree in public health. He has over 35 years of experience working in public administration and public health, developing and administering government and non-profit organizations and programs at the local, national and international levels. Nonetheless, some of Dr. Silva’s most cherished times are those spent helping underserved populations, the homeless, and those with behavioral health issues.
Dr. Silva retired from public service for the State of Arizona in 2016. However, he continue serving as Adjunct Professor for the University of Arizona, Mel & Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health, and works with non-profit organizations to bring services to underserved youth, and those suffering from behavioral health issues.
Dr. Silva’s work on elementary school curriculum materials focusing on public health and animals obtained the Arizona Public Health Association Hemmy Award in 1999. He was induced in the Alpha Nu Chapter of the Delta Omega National Public Health Honorary Society in 2004. He is a lifetime honorary member of the Arizona Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Silva is a family man who loves to spend time with his wife, their children, their grandchildren and their dogs. He is an avid outdoorsman and a self-taught artist. He develops his art drawing with ink and charcoal, painting with pastel, watercolor and oil, and woodcarving.
