Biography

Spencer supports the University’s teaching community by promoting active learning strategies and quality course design for online and asynchronous learning through professional development facilitation, course reviews & teaching observations, and individual/group consultations. He is an Associate Professor of Practice in the Graduate Interdisciplinary Certificate of College Teaching program and Lecturer in the Department of Health Promotion Sciences at the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health. 

Spencer is a seasoned health education specialist with a proven track record in implementing policy, systems, and environmental change strategies aimed at promoting health and preventing disease within community-based, state, and federal government settings. He is highly skilled in facilitating experiential and interprofessional learning opportunities for students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels in clinical and public health sciences. His professional interests focus on promoting health through policy and environmental changes, as well as creating dynamic and interactive learning experiences in traditional classroom settings and asynchronous online environments.
