Biography
Shan C. Sutton serves as Vice Dean of University Libraries at the University of Arizona. In this position he works closely with the Dean in the overall administration of the Libraries. In addition to administrative responsibilities across the Libraries, several departments report to Sutton: Office of Digital Innovation and Stewardship; Special Collections; Access and Information Services; and Facilities. Other areas of focus include library space planning, donor relations, and personnel recruitment and management.
Sutton’s scholarship and service focus on issues of Open Access and the role of academic libraries in the open dissemination of scholarship. His prior positions include Associate University Librarian for Research and Scholarly Communication at Oregon State University Libraries, and Associate Dean and Head of Special Collections at the University of the Pacific Library (Stockton, California).
