  STUDY, Matt Tropman’s 3rd commercial album release, includes his debut recordings as a tuba soloist as well as many never-before-recorded works performed on euphonium. STUDY features a variety of études, or “studies” on both instruments as well as works by J.S. Bach, Sergei Rachmaninoff and others. The album’s main inspiration is to present the world’s first commercial recordings of Theo Charlier’s “Trancendental Études”, cornerstones of etude repertoire originally for trumpet but performed by all brass instruments. STUDY presents them with rarely heard piano accompaniments by Jean-Marie Cottet, again in their first commercial recording. Two of Verne Reynolds legendary “48 Études” are featured in a transcription for tuba.

  Serve as host and conference coordinator for the Southwest Tuba-Euphonium Conference, March 14-17, 2017.Every two years the ITEA has an International Conference. In off years they offer a variety of regional conferences, of which this is one. I submitted a proposal to serve as host in 2015 which was accepted. Coordinating the conference includes publishing a website, reviewing artist proposals, working with FFSOM staff to secure rooms and producing the event. This conference had 120 participants from throughout the region and beyond, including over 40 guest artists giving over 60 separate performances, masterclasses, lectures and presentations.
