Biography
I am an Emergency Medicine and EMS physician and paramedic with a passion for prehospital care and education. I started in this field as a volunteer EMT and firefighter for a small, rural fire department. I quickly fell in love with the field and enrolled in paramedic school, where I made the decision to go to medical school in order to become an EMS physician.I received my paramedic certification and an Associate degree in EMS from Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio. I then obtained my Bachelor degree in Emergency Medicine from the University of Pittsburgh. After this, I received a Post Baccaleureate in Premedical Studies certificate and my Medical Doctorate from Wright State University, located in Dayton, Ohio. After spending my entire life in the midwest, I matched at the University of Arizona for my Emergency Medicine residency training. After completing residency, I moved back to the midwest to complete a fellowship in Emergency Medical Services Medicine at the University of Cincinnati.
Now that my training is complete, I work as full time faculty for the University of Arizona's Department of Emergency Medicine and work clinically in the Emergency Departments at Banner Tucson and South campuses. I am also faculty for the Division of Emergency Medical Services, where I hold several different roles. These include faculty for our Bachelor of Science in EMS, Medical Director for the Paramedic training program, Associate Medical Director for Northwest Fire District, and Medical Advisor for the Flagstaff Area National Monuments, Petrified Forest National Park, and Saguaro National Park.
